Here’s a quick explanation of the different types of printing methods offered.

  • Flat Printing is the standard and ordinary mode of print. Designs of any color are printed on high quality printers and the final outcome is a clean and smooth finish.
  • Thermography is an upgrade to standard printing where the outcome is a tactile, raised surface. A special ink combined with a resin is used and then dries into form. Designs are usually in 1 or 2 colors.
  • Letterpress is considered a luxury in printing because of its ability to produce a tactile, indented surface. Hence its name, plates of the design are molded and then used on a vintage printing press, the plates then mark the design onto the paper. Most of everything is done manually and by hand. Designs are usually in 1 or 2 colors.
  • Silkscreening is the least common mode of print because of it’s process. Similar to letterpress, the design comes from one main screen mold to create repeated impressions. Ink is placed onto the screens and the design is marked into place. The advantage of silkscreening is being able to print on unconventional surfaces such as cardboard and fabric. Designs are usually in 1 or 2 colors.
